The Day I Met Marktore

You,experiences

Barcelona

Before reading this post, I invite you to do the following:

It was a Friday, and I was at the hostel, indecisive about what to do. I met a group of friends: Belgians and a French girl. Coincidentally, a year ago, they had met at the same hostel and had planned a trip since then. They were very funny, and in future posts, I will talk about a night I shared with these characters.

There was a plan for dinner at the hostel, where we also had cocktails and socialized.

Out of the entire group at the hostel, the person I connected with the most was a German named Tobias. When I saw him go to the bar for a beer, just like me, his outfit reflected a German style (boots, smart pants, short-sleeved white t-shirt, and a mustache-style beard). When I connected with him, I realized that he did indeed live in Berlin, my first contact with a person from Berlin.

It's curious how people from the rest of Europe open up so much when they are in Spain; it's something that catches my attention. In the end, once again, we are a product of our surroundings, inevitably.

After drinking alcohol, we were going to go bar hopping to 2 bars and then end the night at a club.

I met people from the United States, Portugal, Peru, Belgium, United Kingdom, Ukraine, Germany, United States, and Finland. We went to a club called Sutton to spend the rest of the night there.

The club was packed, and people were excited. It seemed like everyone knew the DJ. Minutes later, I realized that it was Malaa, a famous French artist known for Bass heavy house and G house. He has performed at festivals like Tomorrowland and Ultra Miami. He is also known for his anonymity, as he always wears a ski mask that completely covers his face. With his tracks from previous years, I had practiced Cutting shapes.

So I started dancing cutting shapes inside the club, enjoying the music from this artist.

Suddenly, a group of dancers approached me. They were very skilled in that style. I got carried away by the excitement and the moment, and we kept enjoying. Then I realized that one of the dancers was none other than @marktore, a cutting shapes dancer whom I had been following for a long time. He is so famous that he has collaborated with artists like Shakira and many other famous shapers around the world. I spoke to him, let him know that I was a big fan, and admired his incredible moves. I could sense the dedication, freedom, passion, happiness, serenity, and confidence in him.

I remember that at one point in the night, I realized I was in a club that was too expensive and famous when I bought a small bottle of water for 8 euros.

Throughout the night, time and again, I bumped into Tobias, my German friend. His energy was captivating; he was a completely free and authentic person. I could see that he was very interested in enjoying in community, a thought that at that moment was completely opposite to my objective, as I was interested in being alone and freeing myself from all social contact. However, that didn't stop us from sharing and connecting together.

I remember that during that moment of the trip, I thought that Tobias was a very different person from everything I had seen in this world up to that point. He was completely original, not following trends, simply being himself, and dancing with his own style, with the sole and exclusive purpose of enjoying the night. From that moment on, I felt influenced by those vibes.

Throughout the rest of the night, I kept dancing. Gradually, the place became less crowded, and the tourists left. Only dancers and some groups of friends remained. Tobias had also left by then.

I continued connecting with the Marktore group. We had several cyphers, and I felt that everyone admired each other's style without judging, competing, or comparing. Even the technique didn't matter; it was as if everyone admired each other's art. It was the first time I saw this; I was accustomed to a different type of cyphers and people.

On the way back to the hostel, I thought that Marktore, being such a famous artist with such a distinctive and eye-catching style, had very few impressed people. It was as if he was just another dancer, and each person was preoccupied with other matters. Almost half of the party probably passed by us while he was dancing, and if only 5% of the people took notice, it was a lot.

There was a before and after this night. I went from admiring the "superhumans" to recognizing that, whoever they may be in this world, we are all human, there is no difference.

Finally, I left the club at 4 am and headed back to my hostel to rest.
